Volunteering Opportunities

Minibus Drivers

Would you like to do something pro-active with your spare time? Why not drive a minibus for One Community Transport? The One Community Transport scheme provides transport for voluntary and community groups, and members of One Community can hire minibuses to take residents and club members to meetings, shopping trips, days out and pub lunches.

FREE MiDAS minibus training is provided in-house and there is no level of commitment required. You can drive on a weekly or monthly basis, or only a couple of times a year. Any time that you can offer is very helpful. Expenses are paid and references and Criminal Record Bureau checks are undertaken.

Play Scheme Activities Helpers

Could you help children with learning difficulties have a great time during the school holidays? We need volunteers to support children on some fun days out to the zoo, farm, Play Zone etc. We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. All you need is a sense of humour and lots of energy. Any time you can give is welcome.

One Community Play Schemes run at Christmas, Easter, Whitsun and during the Summer. Expenses are paid and references and Criminal Record Bureau checks are undertaken.

Day Centre Helpers

Volunteers are needed to assist with the general running of the eight One Community Day Centres for frail older people, located in Eastleigh, Chandlers Ford, Botley, Hedge End, Bursledon and Netley. Your main role would be to chat with members and join them in a variety of activities. We would also appreciate help in the kitchen with washing up, drying up and clearing away. Expenses are paid and references and Criminal Record Bureau checks are undertaken.

Young Carers Group Workers

Group Workers are needed for One Community Young Carers to support Young Carers - young people aged 11-18 who have substantial caring responsibilities. You will be working directly with young people wherever they may be, establishing and developing relationships with them, promoting equal opportunities and enabling those with low confidence and low self-esteem to get involved with group activities.

You will be asked to transport young carers to and from group activities (in your own car) - there is a 4-weekly club evening on Tuesdays which meets at Eastleigh Rugby Club and which organises trips to bowling, ice-skating, theatre etc and outdoor activities plus indoor activities (art and craft etc).

Volunteers should be prepared to give a commitment of at least six months to the project, during which time they should expect to enjoy themselves and have fun! Initial and ongoing training is provided and expenses paid. References and Criminal Record Bureau checks are undertaken.
